Wrapping up 2022

Looking back

It has been a year of reinvention and growth here at Nurture People, where little people and their grown ups are at the heart of it all.

Tineke planted the seed of online parent and infant classes. Parents and babies from all around Aotearoa and even from Australia joined our whānau in their pyjamas from the comfort of their home. Oh, it was just divine - especially for the newest little people and their parents.

Collaboration with Nature Baby has been a blessing this year! We rekindled face to face connection through therapies, consultations and classes in a beautiful and nurturing environment where Pukka tea, cozy sheepskins and welcoming arms offered a breath away from home for parents and their babies. Pop in whenever you are in Newmarket, you will be warmly greeted and welcomed with a warm cuppa.

Jana offered one on one consultations at Nature Baby. And not just any! Feet were resting in a warm foot bath while space was created to share stories about neurodivesity, emotions, rhythm, transition, stillness, pregnancy and relationships. A listening ear and guidance can go a long way as we have learnt from the feedback.

Tineke who is a certified healing birth practitioner supported parents and their whānau online and through in home support. Questions were raised about toddlerhood, a new sibling arrival, emotions, trauma and finding joy again.

Early learning centre guidance and professional development also significantly grew this year under Tineke and Rebecca's caring and knowledgeable wings. They worked with teams to develop strategic planning and compliance, offered guidance on how to live the philosophy through the centre and documents. Team cohesion, relationships, collaboration, effective communication, transitions and behavioural support was also nurtured.

Return to the Heart hui in Tauhara with heart-centered people and Pennie Brownlee was a bright highlight of the year. We set up an umbrella of support through a national database to keep and grow connection with passionate and caring people with a similar vision. Strength lies in unity and we all learn from each other.

Over two years ago we submitted an application for a community lease building with Auckland Council. After a local board presentation and relationship building we are very pleased to announce that all this work is finally coming to fruition as we are being supported by Auckland Council by having our own home base for the next decade! This will enable us to grow even more and offer what is needed for the community of parents, caregivers and children.

We are excited to announce that Rebecca Fletcher is now our new member on the board of trustees  and grows professional support for early learning centres and kindergartens. Visit 'our people' page to get to know her. Phillip changed his role to being a trust advisor. We thank him for his mahi.

Cariad charitable trust has been our angel that enabled us to grow our community with funding support, patience and trust in our work that is needed and meaningful.

Now with our annual report submitted we are ready for rest and enjoy time with our whānau. If you miss us, you can easily get a little Tineke and Jana fix through our Cup of Nurture on YouTube

A gift from our hearts to yours is coming your way tomorrow. We hope it brings you peace, joy and connection with yourselves and your loved ones.

Meri Kirihimete and Happy New Year to you all from us at Nurture People.
